OUR Missions and Beliefs

Our mission is to make apprentices of Jesus (Matthew 28:18-20).
WE WILL TRAIN TO LIVE THE EXTRAORDINARY LIFE JESUS OFFERS.

Our vision is to love God, love each other, and love the world (Mark 12:29-31).

These three relationships are the training ground for our mission. We learn Jesus’ life in the way we relate to God in personal and corporate worship, by experiencing community with each other in our families at home and our spiritual family here, and by joining God’s work of restoring and renewing the world around us.

Our vision statement is also our process for spiritual growth – the path we are taking for growing deeper in our relationship with God.

We encourage everyone to . . .

  • Love God through our Sunday worship and a life of personal devotion in order to become fully mature followers of Jesus.

  • Love Each Other by sharing life together in our families at home and in some spiritual community small enough to really know each other.

  • Love the World by using their gifts to join God in his mission to bless the world, serving in our church family and in our community.

STATEMENT OF CHRISTIAN FAITH: OUR CORE BELIEFS

We believe God is trustworthy and that He pursues us individually because of his tenacious love. Our personal relationship with him, strengthened by our faith community, outweighs everything we treasure. In Him we find hope within a broken world, peace in life's chaos, and courage to face all fears.

The following statements are the foundations of our faith at Woodmont Hills. They represent the unifying beliefs of Christians over the centuries and provide a common kinship among all who accept them.

One God

We believe in One God who eternally exists in three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; John 17:24).

God the Father

We believe in One God and Almighty Father, creator of all that is, seen and unseen, the supreme ruler of the universe who is the source of all righteousness. (Genesis 1:1; 1Timothy 6:15-16; Romans 4:3-6; Revelation 19:6).

God the Son

We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, our Lord. He was born of the virgin Mary, lived a perfect life, died on the cross for our sins, was raised from the dead on the third day, ascended to God’s right hand, and will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead (Acts 1:11; 2:36; Luke 1:26-31; Hebrews 4:15; 1 Corinthians 15:3-6).

God the Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the giver of life. The Spirit is a teacher, comforter and guardian of our lives and dwells within each believer to empower God’s people to live the life of Jesus and to carry out God’s mission in the world (Genesis 1:2; 2 Corinthians 3:18; John 14:16-17; Galatians 5:22-26).

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired and authoritative word of God. These Scriptures reveal God’s heart and the glory of God’s character. The Holy Spirit guides the Church in interpreting the Scriptures and empowers believers to live out the biblical story (1 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21; John 5:39-40).

Salvation

We believe that salvation is a gift from God: it is only by God’s grace and through faith in what Jesus has already done that we are set free from our sins and are free to become children of God who reflect his image in the world. As a response to God’s love for us in Jesus, we confess our faith in word and with our lives by being baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, for the forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 2:8-10; John 1:12-13; Acts 2:38; Romans 6:1-8; Matthew 28:19-20).

The Body of Christ

We believe that Jesus is the head of his body, the church, and that the Spirit gives gifts to each believer so that the body of Christ can model God’s love and carry out God’s mission (Colossians 1:18; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11)
